Adolescent Services

Lowell House’s Adolescent Services aims to address the emotional and psychological impacts of substance use and are designed to address the needs of adolescents identified as high-risk. The mission is to educate and empower youth to discover their unique strengths and resiliency factors by using evidenced-based protocols. Adolescent services include case management, family/individual therapy, and group programming. Our councilors are certified in a number of advanced treatments that provide unparalleled care.

Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach(A-CRA)

A-CRA seeks to increase the family, social, and educational/vocational reinforces to support recovery. This intervention has been implemented in outpatient, intensive outpatient, and residential treatment settings. A-CRA includes guidelines for three types of sessions: individuals alone, parents/caregivers alone, and individuals and parents/caregivers together.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference.

Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents impacted by trauma and their parents or caregivers. Research shows that TF-CBT successfully resolves a broad array of emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with single, multiple and complex trauma experiences.

School Based Services

The mental health of young people across the U.S. is suffering: rates of anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges remain high, and suicide is the second-leading cause of death among American youth. To address these challenges, school-based mental health (SBMH) services are being offered by some school districts as a way to identify and treat children and adolescents who may not have access to other mental health services.

Lowell House conducts substance abuse evaluations, group, and individual counseling for adolescents who are struggling with substance use at any level in our outpatient clinic. Services are provided by a Masters Level Clinician who specializes in treating this age group.
